STORAGE (SAN) ADMINISTRATOR

One of our financial clients in Jersey City has a need for a Storage Administrator. The primary focus of this position as the Storage Administrator, focusing on NetApp, PowerMax/VMAX, Isilon, Cisco MDS, and other storage technologies. This role is responsible for configuring, provisioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and decommissioning storage services and related infrastructure for the bank’s networks in North America and Europe. The Administrator is also responsible for researching or recommending solutions using in-house and new storage management technologies. The Administrator will be expected to take on the role of the subject matter expert (SME) in one or more areas and serve as a technical advisor to peers within and outside their team, and to application and business support staff. The ability to travel to local and recovery data center sites when needed is required.

The secondary focus of the position is the role of Performance and Capacity Analyst, using full-stack monitoring tools such as Virtual Wisdom and EG, reporting applications such as Vipr SRM and Arxview, and the reporting and monitoring capabilities of element managers associated with hardware and software platforms. This analyst role will focus on creating and/or maintaining proactive, reactive and capacity planning processes and reports to quickly resolve and prevent service impacting events. A key deliverable will be standard operating procedures that will allow other teams to resolve alerts and incidents via clearly defined actions.

EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
The successful candidate must have several years of storage administration experience via roles showing growth in expertise and responsibility.  NetApp and Virtual Wisdom experience is highly valued, with experience in at least one of the in-house storage platforms required.  The ability to properly test, implement, and validate changes in lab, development, and production environments is critical. Financial institution experience and/or experience in a highly regulated environment is a plus. The candidate must be comfortable operating within a strict change management and project management framework while being able to prioritize ad-hoc task and KTLO work.

Technology competencies and skills that will contribute to a candidate’s success include NetApp Clusters, VMAX/PowerMax, Isilon, Unity, VNX, and IBM Storworks and Cloud storage platforms; VxBlock, VPLEX, VMware  VxRail  Cisco UCS and other virtualization and converged platforms; SAN and IP Networks; SRDF,  synchronous,  asynchronous and  Snapmirror  SVM replication;  Powerpath, Vipr SRM, Unisphere, Virtual Wisdom, ActiveIQ, IBM TSM, Rubrik, Ivanti HEAT,  OpenShift,  Kubernetes Dash/Tivoli, and VRA/VRO software platforms.  Windows, RedHat,  ESX, and AIX operating systems;  Fibre Channel, FCoE, CIFS, NFS, NVMe, RestAPI, , DNS standards and protocols;  Ansible, OnTap, Python, YAML,  Unix shell, PowerShell, ZAPI and symcli command and scripting languages; ITIL, contingency planning, business recovery, automation, healthcheck, and risk, problem, performance and capacity management processes.
