DevOps Linux ENGINEER
One of our financial clients in the Livingston, NJ area is seeking a DevOps Linux Engineer with experience in a Red Hat Linux environment. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, working on test cases as well as scripting and automation. Experience with mainting a Lab environment is helpful and DevOps experience is also a plus.
The responsibilies of the position are as follows:
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create and maintain our large-scale, distributed test environment
• Serve as the principal system engineer for major test efforts, lead the effort of other system engineers and application testers as required
• Determine and execute appropriate system-side testing for each project outside of requirements
• Write advanced tools and scripts to aid certification efforts and simplify operations procedures
• Estimate certification effort for projects and ad-hoc testing requests
• Create status and test result reports for management and represent the group in status meetings
• Support UAT activities
• Certify operational deployment and end-user documentation.
• Deploy Linux and Windows systems – physical and VM
• Troubleshoot issues encountered during testing and assist groups in problem analysis
• Conduct the entire Application certification effort for a project with minimal supervision
• Certify operational deployment and end-user documentation
Create, modify and execute test plans and cases to verify published business requirements and functional specifications
• Assist in training other personnel as necessary.
• Support operations personnel for critical production issues as needed
• Create test plan, test inventories and maintain in Quality Center
• Conduct GUI, Database and API tests
Minimum 5+ years working with Linux (RedHat)
• Minimum 3+ years testing applications on VMWare guests or equivalent
• Experience with ESX Server and creating VM guests
• Able to install and configure new hardware and software with minimal assistance
• Able to troubleshoot basic network issues
• Ability to work independently or with a team as required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills – can articulate clear objectives and statuses with project stakeholders
• Defines scope and objectives of all levels of QA testing
• Track and report defects using appropriate tools such as Jira
• Working knowledge of QA and SDLC (Agile/Scrum/Waterfall) methodologies
• Experience testing with Client/Server and Web based environments
• Working knowledge of SQL – can create ad-hoc queries to verify test results or troubleshoot issues.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of Ansible, Docker, JIRA are a plus.
• Experience with Java, Perl, Python or shell scripting
• Experience troubleshooting networks or knowledge of Wireshark/tcpdump
• Experience with messaging applications (AMQ, IBM MQ, Redis, Solace) is a plus
• Experience with IDM system is a plus
• Knowledge of support systems (DNS, LDAP, A/D) is a plus
