SENIOR QA PERFORMANCE ENGINEER

ole Summary:

The performance engineer is responsible for ensuring new systems and application changes meet performance requirements and do not negatively impact the performance of existing systems and applications.  Responsibilities include creating and maintaining performance testing and analysis scripts using a variety of home grown and off the shelf tools.  Reporting to the QA Performance Manger, the performance engineer will execute load and capacity tests, analyze results from all available sources (application logs, network capture, OS, etc.), and make deployment and scalability recommendations based on findings.

Key ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Knowledge of Performance Testing Processes and Strategies
  • Working knowledge of Performance Center / Load Runner
  • Experience with software installation, applications under test and test tools
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Shell scripting
  • Programming skills in at least three of the following for writing load generation and performance analysis tools: Perl, Python, Shell and Java
  • Ability to write SQL queries, SQL programming a plus
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with teams outside QA including development, system engineering, network engineering, product, operations, customer support
  • Ability to obtain performance requirements and estimate work effort needed to complete assigned tasks
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to assimilate new information, understand complex topics and arrive at meaningful and accurate conclusions
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues at all levels including operating system, component, database, network
  • Obtain and analyze system utilization statistics
  • Performance analysis and reporting, produce concise meaningful reports to provide senior management with the data needed to make mission critical planning and budgeting decisions
  • Effective defect tracking and reporting

Person Specification:

Skills:

  • Coding with Microsoft Office VBA
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, an open and collaborative mindset, and the ability to work with diverse and distributed product teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to simultaneously manage tasks on multiple projects
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently without frequent supervision
  • Experience with Microsoft Office

 

Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience conducting Performance testing of mission critical applications
  • Domain Knowledge of FX Trading
  • GC tuning knowledge
  • Automation tools like QTP
  • Create and maintain test inventory using ALM or similar tool
