Job Description

SENIOR RISK DEVELOPER

One of our financial clients in NYC is seeking a person that can be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining the company's infrastructure in support of RWA and DFAST requirements as related to an FBO BHC/IHC. Serves as a subject-matter expert who applies technical knowledge to deliver new capabilities or to resolve problems. 

 

Responsibilities:

Collaborates with business stakeholders to deliver new capabilities, data, and systems to ensure compliance with Dodd Frank BHC related Risk Management requirements.

Develops and maintains DataStage code in support of the RWA Data Mart and Engine. Also designs, develops and maintains code for other requirements such as DFAST or Market Risk initiatives.

Tunes ETL jobs and SQL queries for optimization

Interpret written business requirements and functional requirements to produce detailed system requirements specifications, complex data flow diagrams, test plans, swim lane and process diagrams using standardized documentation methods

Creates and executes against well defined Work Breakdown Structures in project plans.

Works with business leaders to obtain approval for Business Requirements Document (BRD) and project requirements document, as needed.

Works with various application team members to obtain the requirements for their development work.

Creates unit test plans and performs unit testing for the interface processes that they developed or modified.

Creates documentation for the processes that they developed as well as updates documentation for the processes that they modified.

Performs peer code reviews including verification of compliance with coding standards and ensures that the code they developed adheres to coding standards and functional / technical specifications.

Coordinates code promotion activities through all SDLC environments and validates that promoted interface code is working as expected.

Assists QA team with identifying QA test cases and supports them during QA testing.

Updates team leader and project manager with status of assigned development/project work.

Supports weekend maintenance, technology / business recovery tests and system verification / validation events.

Keeps up to date on new features and enhancements in the development tools used by the team.

Provides overall guidance to less experienced developers and assists them with addressing development issues and bug fixes.

Ensure that proposed solutions adhere to all bank standards for code development, deployment, technology direction and change and security policies.

Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and insure that production support issues are minimized through implementation of continuous improvement refinements to the platform.

Provides strong vendor management by resolving issues, maintaining communication, accountability and financial discipline.

 

 

Qualifications:

Expert knowledge and experience using IBM Quality Stage including ability to develop DataStage Sequencers and Parallel jobs using different stages like Aggregator, Join, Merge, Lookup, Source dataset, External Filter, Row generator, Column Generator, Change Capture, Copy, Funnel, Short, Peek stages, etc.

Strong knowledge of Risk related regulations as they relate to Credit, Market and Liquidity Risk

Exposure to DFA including Section 165 Regulation YY and Basel III

Understanding of data modeling, indexes, parallel processing and partitioning

Ability to work well autonomously and be a self-starter.

Excellent analytical skills, resilient under pressure and tight timelines and able to deal with complexity and respond quickly to uncertainty.

Strong knowledge of relational and dimensional database concepts.

Experience working in all phases of a full project life cycle, including design.

Experience developing both server and parallel jobs running on a Unix platform against relational databases (i.e., Oracle or SQL Server systems) as source and target data environment.

Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Work Experience: 7 to 10 years of specialized experience in Financial Services, Must have 5+ years experience building DataStage jobs and should be able to integrate them with various databases (Oracle, SQL server). Must be capable of setting workflow using DataStage sequence, Must have 2+ years experience supporting IHC or BHC Risk Management functions such as RWA, DFAST, Stressed VaR, FFIEC 102 etc.

Education: Required: High School or Equivalent
Required: BA/BS
Preferred: MS
Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems is preferred

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: DataStage certification preferred

Language Skills: Business fluency in the following language(s): English

Software Systems/Programming Languages: IBM InfoSphere DataStage 8.x/9.x/11.x, Oracle Databases 11g/12c, PL/SQL, Shell Scripting, Microsoft Suite with advance Excel Modeling. Knowledge of R and/or SPSS a plus. Familiarity with financial modeling a plus.
