DATA GOVERNANCE ANALYST

Our financial client is seeking  an experienced person that will be responsible for assisting with the building of the data quality remediation processes to clean historical data anomalies.  Process includes identification of correct data value, business attestation, and systematic update of the source system of record. Assist with the development and implementation of maker/checker process within loan origination system to improve Data Quality and enhance controls.  In addition, identification of root cause and documentation of data management best practices to achieve strong data quality results.  Resource will also assist expand the breadth and depth of the Business Glossary and deploy Report Certification. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Ensure Critical Data Elements (CDE’s) are fully defined by their attributes (i.e. Definition, data element name, source, business rules, etc.)

·        Advocate and be a practitioner of metadata best practices

·        Populate business glossary (learn Collibra) with data attributes describing the business term

·        Work independently to research business terms using, i.e. SME, vendors, industry standards, self-identify

·        Ensure controls are in place over applications to ensure the data integrity by performing data integrity gap analysis

·        Create key performance indicators and supply colleagues and management with performance results, i.e., create reports & charts

·        Perform Data Analysis such as root cause analysis, impact analysis, data pattern discovery, data profiling and data exception debugging

·        Measurement and reporting of data quality

·        Facilitate Data Quality management practices by implementing and supporting strategy for Data Quality as a Service 

·        Able to evaluate and report on data sourcing best practices, such as, straight-through processing, and implementing up front data controls    

·        Participate with projects that involve any of the upstream or downstream data flows and processes

·        Evangelize the concept of “data as an asset” and the value of understanding the quality of data and its suitability to purpose

·        Actively participate in improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and flexibility of data governance processes

·        Able to articulate and present data analysis findings to stakeholders, business teams, technology teams, and management

·        Documentation of processes and procedures

·        Closely work with management and business process areas to ensure the scope and direction of each project is on schedule

        Capable of reporting, compiling, consolidating, manipulating, and analyzing large contents of data from multiple        environments.  (i.e. SQL, Excel, Access, BI tools)

SKILLS:

Passion for finding, understanding, documenting, and improving data and establishing governance structures

·        Business knowledge and experience with financial/banking services,  information systems, or industry experience

·        Requires a Bachelor’s degree

·        Requires 5+ years of Business Analysis or Data Management experience.  The following experience is a plus, data warehousing, master data management, metadata management, and data quality management, data analytics and Business Intelligence

·        Proven ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines; Ability to work independently

·        Proven analytical and problem solving skills for assessment of complex business and operational support issues and recommend/implement effective solutions

·        Experience with ETL tools and related programming skills a plus
