SECURITY ENGINEER

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Monitor, maintain, and enhance the company's security systems for all platforms and media types including router, firewall, load balancers, Linux/UNIX, windows, server/workstation, mail security gateways, and intrusion detection/intrusion prevention systems. Configure and validate secure systems.  Test security products and systems to detect security weaknesses that include Penetration tests, DoS and DDoS attacks, password strength, and account restrictions.  Perform Assessments of operating systems for known vulnerabilities and work with appropriate area to patch.  Monitor company's information systems for infiltration by Viruses, Trojans, or any other form of data threatening attacks. Configure firewalls, content filters, anti-virus, load balancers, intrusion detection systems, certificate services, disk encryption systems, URL filtering systems, and monitor logs for suspicious activity.  Apply Information Security engineering principles related to building, maintaining, and monitoring a secure infrastructure using various technologies including firewalls, networking products, VPN, intrusion detection, access control products, anti-virus, and security operating system or application tools and protocols.Document technical security standards, guidelines, and procedures required to reinforce information security policies.  Conduct necessary research to ensure these standards, guidelines and procedures adhere to current best practice guidelines and information security industry standards.  Develop project documentation including security requirements, design, validation and implementation criteria for business and technology projects.  Update and maintain security-related system documentation and local procedures.

 

 

 

Skills needed:

 

  • 5 years information security, Networking, or Information Systems experience preferred

  • Previous financial services or banking background and systems or operations experience preferred

  • Experience with Linux/UNIX, Windows Server and Workstation, TCP/IP, and networking preferred

  • Security Certifications (CCSA, Juniper, CISSP or other technical vendor certification) preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

  • Knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, PKI and Application Security methodologies

  • Knowledge of Information Systems Security and Disaster Recovery and advanced training in Data Security

  • Knowledge of PC and LAN Security

  • Knowledge of banking principles and operations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (strong technical writing skills required)

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and efforts with limited supervision

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Project management skills preferred
