IT Operations Analyst

 

 

 

One of our financial trading clients is looking for an experienced Operations Analyst to join their team to help support their electronic trading division of the company. The environment is Red Hat Linux/ Windows with a large scale global deployment and you will be working within a global team.

 

Must Haves:

 

  • Experience with hands on systems administration, hardware configuration activities, and software installation/deployment activities
  • Experience writing thorough technical documentation
  • 2nd-4th level on-call production support of global Linux/Windows environments
  • Storage configuration skills using standard Linux tools (disk partitioning, RAID configuration)

 

 

Responsibilities

h Hands on systems administration, hardware configuration activities, and software installation and deployment activities

h Write thorough technical documentation for use by Operations staff

h 2nd-4th level on-call production support of worldwide Linux/Windows environments

h Guide field staff with deployment of servers/desktops remotely

h Willingness to work on site at various data centers during deployment

h Demonstrate a clear understanding of operations and technical requirements

h Uses various operation systems and utilities to verify correct system operation

h Responds to client inquiries via Customer Support and/or our Global Technical Control Centre concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems

h Recommend and follow-up on remedial actions to correct problems

h Coordinate activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups

h Provide updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication

h Provide 2nd level support for Field Service Engineers, and Customer Support

h Provide level 2 application support

h Take on additional duties and learns other skills as needed

h Performs any and all other duties as assigned by management

h Ability to communicate with all levels of staff, both within IT and Business units

h Strong documentation skills (using MS Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint)

h Ability to work and resolve multiple problems/issues at the same time

h Openness to stay current and learn new technologies

h Ability to remain calm and work in a high-pressure environment
