                                                            SERVER ENGINEER

 

As a member of our IT team you will install, deploy, upgrade and maintain servers to support our existing and new infrastructure both in Hosting and Corporate office environments. You will design and implement upgrades, develop infrastructure, manage and automate recurring tasks. You will take active role in establishing the infrastructure connectivity between the clients and services.  You will be an escalation function for our support and NOC teams. Working in a fast paced environment, you will need exceptional technical expertise, initiative and strong interpersonal skills. This position is based in our corporate headquarters in NY and requires minor travel to our hosting sites.

 

Tasks & Duties

  • Design, build, install and configure servers in our hosted environment
  • Automate processes, build details plans for all hosted environment activities
  • Respond to second level support and NOC escalation requests. Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalate to Israel team as necessary
  • Work with external clients (Banks and other financial institutions) to establish & troubleshoot connectivity issues to the environment (network level as well as ftp/sftp/email/mq)
  • Setup connectivity requests for clients onboarding process (ftp/sftp/email/mq)
  • Guide & consult PM and PS teams regarding any technical/infrastructure/onboarding issues.
  • Participate in the weekend maintenance tasks and be on call 24/7 for urgent matters
  • Work closely with other groups in the Managed Services space (DevOps, DBA, IT, ETC)
  • Prioritize work load and meet project time-lines
  • Provide back-up support to Corporate IT team with activities including, but not limited to: monitoring of HelpDeskNY mail box, responding to employee requests, closing tickets in a timely fashion and creation/termination of user accounts

Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent customer facing skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 3+ years’ experience with Red Hat Linux AS 5.x/6.x Administration, installation, products and
  • troubleshooting
  • 5+ years hands-on experience and excellent knowledge of servers hardware; HP Proliant servers, HP Blade servers Preferred
  • Strong problem solving skills with server applications in both windows and Linux environments
  • Intermediate level of expertise with LAN network administration, Cisco/Juniper LAN switching and some understanding of routing protocols (BGP)
  • Self-learning and independent working capability  - a must
  • 5+ years’ experience with Windows 2008/2012 servers, Active Directory, Exchange 2007/2010 Servers management, design and implementation
  • Experience with large organizations networks and server farms
  • High level of understanding of DNS, LDAP, FTP/sFTP, DHCP, backup software
  • Clustering software: Red Hat Clusters, Linux-HA, Microsoft Clusters
  • IBM Websphere MQ Knowledge preferred
  • Project Management and Documentation capabilities
  • Apache web servers experience a plus
  • NetApp storage devices (NAS/SAN) experience a plus
  • Scripting capabilities a plus (BASH, Perl, PHP, PowerShell)
  • Juniper Firewall’s knowledge a plus
