Job Description







h Conduct the entire Application certification effort for a project with minimal supervision

h Serve as the principal Application Test Engineer for major test efforts, leading the various testing efforts during the SDLC

h Represent the group in requirement, specification, and design review meetings and contribute constructive feedback to the presenters in the group’s area of expertise

h Create test plan, test inventories and maintain in Quality Center

h Create status and test result reports for management and represent the group in status meetings

h Conduct GUI, Database and API tests

h Estimate certification effort for projects and ad-hoc testing requests

h Create, modify and execute test plans and cases to verify published business requirements and functional specifications

h Troubleshoot issues encountered during testing and assist groups in problem analysis

h Perform research and development in response to business or technical needs of projects



h Certify operational deployment and end-user documentation

h Certify industry-standard and company proprietary input and output feeds of the system

h Produce distribution media and ensure successful turnover of media and documentation to Operations

h Support operations personnel for critical production issues as needed

h Write advanced tools and scripts to aid certification efforts and simplify operations procedures

h Assist in training other personnel as necessary

h Assist other groups in areas of expertise (company or commercial products)



h Strong analytical and problem solving skills – thinks in a logical and ordered way

h Good verbal and written English skills – can communicate clearly with colleagues

h Ability to work with rapidly changing schedules and priorities

h Able to work independently

h Knowledge of foreign exchange/banking and market data industries a plus

h Ability to take ownership and pride in ensuring high-quality products for our customers

h Ability to build consensus and facilitate communications among groups on issues encountered

h Takes initiative to learn about all of the systems that the company has and how they interact

h Ability to rapidly familiarize themselves with the operation of the products under testing, as well as a desire to create complex testing solutions from the ground up


Professional/Technical Skills

h Knowledge of testing process and methodologies

h Experience testing with Client Server and web based environments

h Strong QTP or VB background

h Perform basic database queries

h Able to define scope and objectives of all levels of QA testing

h Track and report defects using appropriate tools such as HP Quality Center

h Experience creating scripts for automating processes

h Familiar with Windows and Linux environments

h Initiate change of direction when problems are detected and provide possible solutions

h Knowledge of Mercury Interactive suite of automated testing tools (QTP and Quality Center)

h Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products

h Working knowledge of SQL – can create ad-hoc queries to verify test results or troubleshoot issues

h Working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies

h Knowledge of software methodologies (Agile and Scrum)

h Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems

h Working knowledge of OpenVMS is a plus



Qualifications & Experience

h Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science

h 4 years + in testing or development

h Familiar with TCP/IP a plus

h Familiar with a scripting language (BASH, Perl, etc) a plus

h At least 4 years relevant experience on Systems and/or manual and API testing

h Knowledge of foreign exchange/banking and market data industries a plus

h Working knowledge of de facto industry standard software (Oracle, HP OpenView, etc.) a plus
